USDA Organic Coffee Maintains Organic Integrity from the Farm to Your Front Door
Although all Copper Moon Coffee is evenly roasted and uniquely smooth, giving you a satisfying taste that’s simply out of this world—not all of our coffees are created equal. Several of our coffees are noticeably different. Our 100% USDA Organic coffees are all sold in white packaging to stand out among all of our black coffee bags. The snow-white bags and boxes prominently displaying the green and brown USDA Organic label represent our organic guarantee. When you see the USDA label, you can rest assured knowing these coffees have maintained their organic integrity, all the way from coffee farms in Central and South America to your front door, wherever you call home.
Our sourcing specialists and Roastery Team work hand-in-hand with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to ensure our organic coffees have been sustainably grown, harvested, and handled in natural, eco-friendly conditions. They also monitor green coffee bean shipments from the country of origin to our production facilities in Lafayette, Indiana. Organic Certification by the USDA verifies that farms, crop harvesters, and handling operations all comply with specific organic regulations to uphold their organic standards.
What does the USDA Organic label stand for?
When you purchase 100% USDA Organic coffees, you can feel good about what you put into your favorite coffee mug. The “USDA Organic” label means we respect the land from the rainforests to your freshly brewed coffee and every step in between. But don’t just take our word for it. The USDA shares the following promises on its website:
“USDA certified organic foods are grown and processed according to federal guidelines addressing, among many factors, soil quality, animal raising practices, pest and weed control, and use of additives. Organic producers rely on natural substances and physical, mechanical, or biologically based farming methods to the fullest extent possible. Produce can be called organic if it’s certified to have grown on soil that had no prohibited substances applied for three years prior to harvest. Prohibited substances include most synthetic fertilizers and pesticides…Becoming familiar with the USDA organic label and understanding its claims empower consumers to make informed decisions about the food they purchase. While there are many marketing claims that add value to foods, consumers can be assured that USDA organic products are verified organic at all steps between the farm and the store.” Source: Organic 101: What the USDA Organic Label Means
